On the 15 of January 2015, we were informed of an Über driver, a 46 year old married father of three Adnan Nafasat, had been charged with choking, kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 21-year-old male passenger in Chicago.

Just two days on from that news, a Parisian Über driver kidnapped and forced a young lady of twenty to perform oral sex on him.

Dangerous Details:
When customers use the Über application, both driver and customer get to keep the name, address and phone number of the passenger/driver. As the journey was legit, the twenty year old woman was able to use her information in a complaint made in mid-January against an Über driver.

The facts date back to January 17. That evening, with two friends, the young woman decides to use the car service to go to the Parisian night club, Show Case, beneath the Alexandre 8th bridge. The female in question takes the passenger seat, her two companions sit in the rear.

Arriving at the disco, the driver set down the two passengers occupying the rear seat. On the pretext that it was too dangerous for his front passenger to alight into the busy road as there was no sidewalk, he drivers the young lady away. He then pulled over in a side street ordered the young woman to perform oral sex.

The victim of the alleged sexual assault filed a complaint and the driver was traced and arrested. In while in custody, the driver denied the facts.

Meanwhile, Über France expressed "very surprised to not have been contacted by the police" and have made a statement they were not informed of the facts. The company also points to its "security conditions" implemented on its platform, a so called panic button.

The 30 year old driver, will be held on in custody till May 29, when he will appear before the correctional tribunal of Paris for sexual assault.

The man is unknown to police except driving without a permit. If convicted, he faces up to 5 years in prison and a €75 000 fine.

Editorial Comment:
Don't forget that although you get to keep the drivers details, the driver also gets to keep your details. (Photo, address, phone number, full name). In some cases we've heard of Drivers have made physical threats against passengers who complain.
