Thriev have already taken delivery of 32 BYD e6 EVs and trials have proved so successful, the Chinese car manufacturer BYD will now be delivering a further 200 of its e6 electric cars to Thriev by April 2015.
Their arrangement marks the largest overseas rental agreement for the automaker. Note these vehicles are leased from the manufacturer by Thriev.
In March 2013, Leon Daniels was dispatched to the BYD factory in China to check out electric buses and the suitability of these vehicles for the private hire sector.
They offer drivers at least £10 an hour, that's guaranteed.
PLUS a revenue share (currently 80%) with no other costs whatsoever and is probably more than some taxi drivers are earning after they pay their fuel/vehicles/repairs/insurance etc etc.
Look at the number of jobs they are advertising ; companies like this are getting bigger and that leaves less work for taxis.
Going forward Boris Johnson with his ULEZ has just created a situation that it going to make their already booming business 100 times bigger.
Johnson probably has shares!
Forget Uber; the challenge to the taxi trade is companies like this, who are well organised have vetted trained drivers and have vehicle from China which are cheap to buy cheap to run and are using the latest technology to their maximum advantage and provide a good service for their customers.
The Mayor and TfL love them.
They don't moan, they don't demonstrate, they just operate quietly, pay their dues and get on with it.
